One small step for ROCKs, one giant leap towards making a huge impact in the Whistler Community

Charitable Status Granted!

We got it!  As of November 21, 2024 we officially have Charitable status.  This is huge, as it opens up funding opportunities for us, which then means we are that much closer to actually opening a kitchen.  Not only can companies and individuals now receive a tax receipt for their generous donations, but we can apply for many, many more grants.  If you or someone you know wants to start helping us writing grants, please reach out asap.

New Board Members

We have 3 new board members, check them out on the About Us page on our website. We are always looking for people who want to help us get this off the ground, so if you know someone who wants to become part of something fun, big and purposeful, then have them sign up here.

Summer Activities

Ooops #fail. So we didn’t have any activities over the summer, but we all continue to be very positive that we can make something happen, someday soon. We won’t make any promises we can’t keep for this winter, but we’ll focus on applying for grants that can kick off operations.

A Strategic Plan?  What’s That?

Ok ok, we do know what one is – there have been many non-profits and businesses within Whistler working on theirs lately and it’s inspiring to see where they are coming up with. Now it’s our turn! We’ve started drafting ours, but if you or anyone you know wants to get their hands dirty creating a strategic plan for ROCKs, then jump in!

Have Space?

A reminder that we’re still looking for our ‘forever home’, but will also consider temporary locations.  We can start commercial lease negotiations now, subject to funding, but still need help.  If you know of any landlord who wants to rent their space to someone that will hugely benefit the Whistler community, then help us to connect.  Remember that landlords may be able to get tax breaks from renting spaces and receiving a tax receipt.
