Whistler R.O.C.K.S Newsletter
Welcome to the very first newsletter of Whistler ROCKS! You are all part of something new, exciting and what we hope will be disruptive for Whistler. This is a monthly newsletter to keep you informed of our journey.

Fundraiser Held Dec 3, 2023
We had a fun and informative fundraiser last week, it was amazing to see the community come together and hear what we are all about. We hope those that were able to attend took away the key messages about our journey, our values and how to do a 1 min ‘chair lift’ pitch. Our very own mayor Jack Crompton was a great sport and had everyone in stitches. If you want to see some very funny (and maybe not very PC) videos, check them out.
Special mention, thanks to those who voted (with pasta pieces) we now have a new logo, congratulations to Carron for winning the comp. We thought all 5 logos submitted were amazing, so we hope to use them all.
We also still have 2 great items that did not get snapped up in our auction, check out our ‘we need help’ page if you want to make us an offer we can’t refuse 🙂
Thanks
I will never say it enough, but my heart is filled to the brim by the amazing people and businesses that helped us with our first fundraiser. Receiving so many amazing auction items really kicked our fundraiser into high gear, not to mention the volunteers who absolutely rocked it getting s**t done on the night. Check out our ‘thanks’ page to see who our founding friends are – and make sure you show some love to those establishments and let them know you are also a friend of Whistler R.O.C.K.S…. Maybe we need to come up with a secret handshake?
Donations Update
Our total funds raised to date is $1,887 which is 1.8% of our total goal. Yup, we know we have lots to do, but we are in it for the long haul, if it takes 6 months or 6 years. The good news is the whole fundraiser only cost us $226 dollars, so we are already operating on a shoestring – borrowing, reusing, repurposing and asking for help – that’s the community way and how we intend to proceed.
Sharing is caring
If everyone who receives this email does 1 of 2 things below, then we’ll be that one step closer to our fundraising goal. We know it’s a large mountain that we need to climb, but if we all get involved, we can share the load.
- Please forward this email to 1 person you know who you think would love to hear about us and if you came to the fundraiser or have spoken to any of us, then you can also say ‘hey, these people are the real deal’.
- If everyone on this email donates just $20 by e-transferring to whistler.recreate@gmail.com, then we’ll double the funds raised to date. And we promise not to ask again until mid January, when our next newsletter comes out.
What’s next
We need to spend the next month continuing to spread the word, connecting with everyone who reached out to get involved, gave us feedback, and offered great ideas for fundraising. Here is the presentation shared at the fundraiser – if you know of an event that would help us spread the word, share it on our behalf, or invite us to come and speak. We also need to look into getting Charitable status and determine if that should be our next step.
Got thoughts, worries, or genius ideas? Throw ’em our way!
