ROCKS
Recreate Our Community Kitchen Society
Whistler ROCKS is a new, grass-roots registered charity with a purpose to address poverty by regularly preparing hot meals free of charge to those who need it. We aim to fill a serious gap in Whistler’s communal infrastructure. We’re Whistler locals who share a love for good food and good company.
High housing costs, overcrowded or makeshift accommodations, and an often out-of-reach living wage leaves many locals without the means to make themselves a proper dinner. These are among the people who keep this community running, and we exist for them.
Our dream is simple: to create a safe, welcoming space where people from all walks of life can come together, connect, and discover the joys of food and community. We believe sharing a meal can bring people closer, spark conversations, and forge new friendships.

As a volunteer in our kitchen, you’ll not only cook from scratch, but you’ll also discover the art of combining simple ingredients to create fantastic flavours. It’s a place where culinary novices and seasoned chefs alike can come together to share their passion for food.
Whether you’re a food enthusiast, an advocate for sustainability, or someone with the resources that can positively impact our project, we wholeheartedly celebrate your presence here. We’re on an exhilarating journey in Whistler, and we’re actively searching for like-minded individuals to join us. Together, we’re nurturing a culinary community, and your enthusiasm and support are the secret ingredients that will make it all happen.

What Are You Current Activities?
As of September 2025, we are preparing and serving hot meals monthly for our community – for free to those who need it and by donation to those that can. We will repurpose any food that’s available, purchase the balance and work with volunteers to cook and serve at the Whistler Mountain Ski Club. Learn more about our upcoming events.
What's Needed Long Term?
We’re on a mission to find a long term space for our community kitchen project. If you have any leads or information about available spaces in the Whistler area, we’d greatly appreciate your assistance. Your knowledge could be the key to making our dream a reality.
Who Can Participate in the Community Kitchen?
Anyone! If you are new to Whistler or been here since ‘that first season you’ll never forget’; we want to be as welcoming and inclusive as we can. For those who need a free hot meal, please know that you are welcome. For those that can afford to ‘pay it forward’, a $10 suggested donation will be welcome.
How Can I Volunteer?
Simply complete this form to let us know how you want to volunteer and we’ll reach out.
How Can I Support This Initiative?
There are many ways to donate, but it comes in 3 categories:
- Your Time – If you have excess of it, we could use it! Simply complete the volunteer form and we’ll be in touch.
- Your Resources – If you have excess food, storage space, commercial grade kitchen equipment and other resources that you think we’ll need, reach out to us and we’ll be in touch.
- Your Money – If you have surplus, trust me we will use it!! Or if you just have a little money and want to make a difference, we promise to make good use of it. Use the donate button on the page to find out more.
What Types of Programs or Services Does the Community Kitchen Offer?
We have big plans! We want to set up many programs to help in the community and add to all the great resources and programs already available. Cooking classes, Food Safety Certificates and Food Rescue are all on our roadmap, but we are focussing on building a great foundation first.
